After having carefully studied a bunch of other Mediterranean countries like Spain<\/a>, Italy<\/a> and Croatia<\/a> to name a few, our statisticians have been curious about the viewing habits of our users in Greece for quite some time now. Currently ranking 21st worldwide in terms of the number of visitors to Pornuhb, the Greek are quite the patriotic bunch when it comes to the type of content they enjoy on the site, as we’ll see later on in our coverage. We’re bringing you this and more in the latest installment of Insights, let’s get started.<\/span><\/p>\n

QUICK STATS: GREECE<\/h2>\n

As we saw in our 2014 Year in Review<\/a>, the average visit on Pornhub tends to last around 9 minutes and 16 seconds. The Greek make slightly better time than this, with their visits lasting just under 9 minutes on average. They also tie up with the worldwide proportion of female <\/a>viewers, at 24%. Like many other countries in the world such as France<\/a> and Portugal<\/a>, Mondays are the day of the week that see the most visits to Pornhub, on average.<\/p>\n

Interestingly Tuesday is the day that tends to see the least. Of all of countries we’ve surveyed, we’ve only ever noticed this phenomenon in the Philippines<\/a>. Most other countries tend to have traffic dips on or just before the weekend. In this situation, it may be due to the unfortunate economic crisis that the country is currently experiencing. With unemployment now hovering around 25%, the reality is that for many, the work day does not prevent spending more time on Pornhub during the week. This may also explain why the peak hour in Greece is between 3-4 pm. We’ll look at the country’s top search terms next.<\/p>\n

As we’ve seen in the vast majority of the countries we’ve studied on Pornhub Insights, a country’s top searched terms tend to involve its own nationality. We saw this to be true in Scotland<\/a>, Denmark<\/a> and India<\/a>, among others. This is also very much the case in Greece, where half of the 20 most searched terms in the country are either cities or regions within the nation or contain ‘greek’. ‘Greek’ is the most searched for term here by a long shot, followed by ‘greek celebrity’ and ‘greek porn’ in second and third place.<\/p>\n

GREEK GODDESSES OF PORN<\/h2>\n

Let’s take a look at which porn stars are deemed Parthenon worthy in Greece. National treasure Julia Alexandratou<\/a> (NSFW) takes first place by a strong lead, followed by everyone’s favorite MILF, Lisa Ann<\/a> in second. Homegirl Mariana Douvli takes third, followed by reality queen Kim Kardashian<\/a> down at 8th place.<\/p>\n

IT’S ALL GREEK TO ME<\/h2>\n

As we stated earlier on, Greeks tend to last just under 9 minutes when they visit Pornhub. This figure varies from region to region, however. For instance, in the South Aegean region, almost half a minute is shaved off of the average time on site. Over in the inner regions of Central Greece and Epirus, they enjoy longer than average sessions on the site. Visits tend to last 14 and 41 seconds longer than the national average in each region, respectively.<\/p>\n

HAPPY HOLIDAYS<\/h2>\n

According to a 2012 Gallup Poll, over 70% of Greeks surveyed expressed that religion was an important part of their lives. This is echoed by some significant decreases in traffic that we observed on certain religious holidays in the country. While the largest drop at -36% was noted on New Years Eve, Easter Sunday<\/a>, and the Dormition of the Holy Virgin both see decreases of around 25%. Traffic was also down by 19% on Good Friday and 18% on Christmas Day<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On to devices. Currently, 44% of visits to Pornhub originate from desktop computers. This figure is slightly higher in Greece at 56%. As such, visits from mobile devices<\/a> like tablets and smartphones in the country account for slightly less visits than they do on the worldwide scale.<\/p>\n

SHIFT OF THE AGES<\/h2>\n

We’ll end our coverage with some age<\/a>-focused data. The average age of a Pornhub user in Greece is 35, which is the same as the worldwide average. The median age in Greece is currently 41.8 years. We’ve previously found that Millennials<\/a> account for the majority of site users, and the same is true in Greece as 61% of users here are aged between 18 and 34 years.<\/p>\n

It gets really interesting when we look closer at which types of content that each age group searches for on the site. For instance, searches oriented around healthy activities like ‘yoga’ and the ‘gym’ are searched for quite a bit more in the 18-24 year old group, while older cohorts prefer foreign content. Specifically, searches for ‘turkish,’ and ‘italian’ are quite popular among 45-54 year olds and terms like ‘russian mom’ and ‘russian’ are searched for proportionally more by the 55-64 year old age group. Trans and arab content is what the 65+ crowd in Greece are checking out at much higher rates than any other age group.<\/p>\n

The categories that are viewed proportionally more by each age group are also quite fascinating. 18-24 year olds in Greece rack up views in the ‘Hentai’ and ‘Cartoon’ categories considerably more than any other. 25 to 34 year olds go for that amateur feel, with the ‘Webcam,’ ‘Casting’ and ‘Amateur’ categories all being viewed more by this age group than others. Again, the older groups tend to lean more towards foreign films, with high proportions of views in the ‘French,’ ‘Italian, and ‘Russian’ categories.<\/p>\n
