The average person visiting Pornhub spends around 9 minutes 20 seconds and views 9 pages by the time they come and go. That hardly qualifies as binge watching, but our\u00a0friends at Vice<\/a>\u00a0asked us if certain\u00a0types\u00a0of porn stand out as being\u00a0watched for longer or\u00a0shorter periods of time. Pornhub Insights\u00a0has studied the length of time porn is watched in\u00a0different countries<\/a>, by different genders<\/a> and age groups<\/a> and even when using\u00a0different devices<\/a>, but not yet\u00a0by the category\u00a0being viewed, so our statisticians set to work.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The category that is viewed the longest is “Old\/Young”, which\u00a0features\u00a0videos pairing couples with large age differences.\u00a0It’s viewed nearly 2 minutes longer than the average session time of 9 minutes 20 seconds. The “Mature” category follows with\u00a0an increase\u00a0+83 seconds. These two categories are more popular with Pornhub users over the age of 45, and although that age group only accounts for 25% of Pornhub users, they do tend to visit our site for a longer period of time, which may account for the increased viewing time “Old\/Young” and “Mature”.<\/p>\n

The category responsible for the shortest session duration is “Red Head” at -163 seconds below average, although to be fair that’s\u00a0not far off of “Blonde” (-150 seconds) and “Brunette” (-126 second). While many of the categories with\u00a0below average viewing times do\u00a0rank lower in popularity, that doesn’t stop some of our consistently top categories from coming up short. “Lesbian” is down 25 seconds, and “Cartoon” is down 32 seconds, so there’s no immediate correlation between a category’s popularity and the time it is watched.<\/p>\n

Comparing and Contrasting Categories<\/h2>\n

Next, our statisticians directly\u00a0compared the viewing time of categories with different themes. For examples, the “Ebony” category is viewed for 34% longer than “Latina”. “Amateur” videos are viewed 24% longer than those categorized as “Pornstar”, and those with “Gay” men are watched 20% longer than “Lesbian” women. They\u00a0also discovered that a “Handjob” will take 17% longer than a “Blowjob” to get the job done. Science!<\/p>\n

At this point, we\u00a0should\u00a0add a short disclaimer. While it may seem that having people stick around Pornhub\u00a0for a longer period of time makes a particular category better, it can also be said that a shorter period of time means people reach their, ahh.. climax..\u00a0quicker watching\u00a0some types of videos more than others. So for example, a video in the “Cartoon” category\u00a0could get you off 29% quicker than “Hentai”. Take note for the next time\u00a0you’re in a hurry!<\/p>\n

Country and Ethnicity Categories<\/h2>\n

Pornhub has several categories with videos featuring a particular country\u00a0or\u00a0ethnicity type. The “Japanese” category comes out way ahead at 11 minutes and 19 seconds. Interestingly, “Japanese” is one of the most popular categories in Japan, but their country also has one of the shortest average session times on Pornhub at less than 8 minutes. “Arab”, “Ebony” and “Czech” are all viewed for longer than average, while “British”, “Brazilian” and “Latina” are below.<\/p>\n

Women Compared to Men<\/h2>\n

Some of our\u00a0most insightful data comes from\u00a0contrasting\u00a0the porn habits of\u00a0men and women, like in\u00a0our More of What Women Want<\/a> study. Worldwide,\u00a0women account for 24% of Pornhub’s users, and they tend to stick around Pornhub for about a minute longer\u00a0on average.<\/p>\n

This time around, we looked at how the viewing time for\u00a0women varies\u00a0from men by calculating the difference in seconds for\u00a0each category being viewed. We found that “Hentai” is the category that women watch the longest\u00a0compared to men — over 3 minutes longer in fact. They watch “Squirt” videos for 58 seconds longer, and “Amateur” for 28 seconds longer.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, women watch “Handjob” videos for 169 seconds less than men, and “solo male” videos for 116 seconds less. So take note gentlemen! The quickest\u00a0way to get your partner\u00a0off may be from\u00a0watching you give yourself a hand-job.\u00a0Especially if you also\u00a0happen to be an\u00a0“Asian” and in “College” – the next two quickest categories for women.<\/p>\n

Pages Viewed Per Session<\/h2>\n

Another metric our statisticians regularly monitor\u00a0are the number of pages viewed per session. So in the same way, we can also see how many pages are viewed on average when people are watching a particular category. In this case, the “Gay” category comes out way on top with 11 page per session. Compare that to the site-wide average of 9.19 pages. Others like “Feet”, “POV” and “Old\/Young” also have more page views than average. \u00a0The least page views go to categories like “Small Tits” at 6.38, “Hentai” at 6.78 and “Massage” at 6.83.<\/p>\n

Keep in mind that just like time on site, the page views don’t necessarily indicate the success of a particular category. More views could mean it took more attempts to find just the right video for a visitor\u00a0to get the job done, although we’d like to think our users stop to enjoy a few different videos before they ultimately come, and go.<\/p>\n
