When are Irish eyes smiling? When they’re watching Pornhub of course. The Irish Mirror<\/a> asked us to take a look at how Ireland watches porn so our statisticians set to work. While Ireland’s population of 4.7 million ranks it 124th worldwide, they rank an incredible 28th for traffic to Pornhub. In fact, in our 2015 Year in Review<\/a> we found that Ireland had 161 visits per capita, making\u00a0it 4th worldwide just behind the United Kingdom<\/a>, Canada<\/a> and the United States<\/a>. Good on ya Ireland!<\/p>\n

So what brings the Irish back to Pornhub so often? “Lesbian” and “MILF” are the top search terms and<\/em> the top categories viewed on Pornhub. In a close\u00a03rd\u00a0place\u00a0are searches for\u00a0“Irish”. That’s in contrast to\u00a0other European countries we’ve studied like\u00a0Germany<\/a>, Norway<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0Netherlands<\/a>, where they\u00a0prefer to search for homegrown videos before all else.<\/p>\n

The following map illustrates how the top search terms differ by region. Kork and Kerry in the Southwest\u00a0enjoy “MILF” porn, as does Donegal in the Northwest. In much of the Southeast and Midlands “Lesbian” is the top search term. Standout regions include Leitrim where “Twerking” is tops, and in Galway searches for “Irish” are most popular. Folks in Westmeath enjoy “JOI” videos, a form of verbal fetish which stands for “Jerk Off Instructions”.<\/p>\n

Countrywide, top categories are again “Lesbian” and “MILF” followed by 18+ “Teen” and “Mature”. The Irish also prefer watching “Big Tit” more than “Big Dick” porn.<\/p>\n

Reality TV personality Kim Kardashian<\/a> is the most searched for pornstar in Ireland, as in most other parts of the world. Kim K’s sex tape with Ray Jay is Pornhub’s\u00a0most viewed video of all time – over 150 million views at the time of this writing. MILF superstar “Lisa Ann” is the second most popular porn star search in Ireland.<\/p>\n

The average Irish visitor spends 9 minutes and 15 seconds on Pornhub each time they visit. That’s only 5 seconds short of the worldwide average, and 3 seconds behind their neighbors in the United Kingdom.\u00a0Regionally, people\u00a0in Dublin come and go 8 seconds faster than the national average, whereas folks in Wexfod, Offaly and Mayo last\u00a0around a half minute longer.<\/p>\n

Women account for 25% of Pornhub’s traffic from Ireland, slightly higher than the worldwide average of 24%. Dublin and Kildare have the highest proportion of women, whereas Meath only has 21%, and Limerick 22%. Women spend on average 48 seconds longer on Pornhub than men.<\/p>\n

The porn viewing preferences of men and women differ greatly, as we discovered in our Women’s Favorite Searches<\/a> and \u00a0More of\u00a0What Women Want<\/a> studies. It seems that Irish women are more than twice as likely to view the “Lesbian” category, whereas men are twice as likely to view\u00a0“mature” videos. Women are over 300% more likely to watch “pussy licking” and “female friendly” videos, and they enjoy things\u00a0more hardcore than their male counterparts by watching more “gangbang”, “hardcore” and “rough sex” videos.<\/p>\n

Different age groups also enjoy a variety of porn as we discovered in our Golden Age of Pornhub<\/a> and Millennials<\/a> studies. The average age of Ireland’s visitors is 35 years old, with 62% being\u00a0Millennials between the ages of 18 and 34. Limerick has the highest proportion of Millennial visitors at 67%, and Wexford has the largest number over 35 at 43%. Dublin has the least number of 18-24 year old visitors, and the highest proportion of both 25-34 and 35-44 year olds.<\/p>\n

We’ll finish off by taking a look at how different holidays and events can affect traffic to Pornhub. Ireland is no exception, where we found that traffic on New Years Eve and Christmas Eve<\/a>\u00a0both\u00a0drop to half their normal levels. Some holidays cause an increase in traffic such as Saint Patrick’s Day<\/a> (+3%) and May Day (+12%).<\/p>\n
